The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni dares to be different with its square form factor, and the gamble largely pays off. The unique design excels at corner cleaning, delivering noticeably better results along baseboards and in tight spaces compared to traditional round robots. Combined with strong suction, advanced AI navigation, and the innovative YIKO voice assistant, it's a compelling choice for users who value thorough edge-to-edge cleaning.
However, the square design isn't without tradeoffs. The robot can occasionally get wedged in tight spaces where round models would simply rotate and escape. Navigation also requires more careful path planning to maneuver the corners effectively.
Square Design: Innovation or Gimmick?
The square design is the X2 Omni's defining feature, and in most scenarios, it's genuinely beneficial. Corner cleaning is dramatically improved - our tests showed 30-40% better debris pickup in corners compared to round competitors. The assistant supports basic commands and works well for quick operations. For complex scheduling or zone cleaning, you'll still want to use the app.
AIVI 3D 2.0 Navigation
The AIVI 3D obstacle avoidance system uses dual lasers and a camera to create detailed 3D maps and identify objects. During testing, it successfully avoided common obstacles like cables, shoes, and pet toys.
