Our Verdict
The Eufy Clean X9 Pro smartly targets buyers who want 2-in-1 functionality without spending over $1,000. At $649, it undercuts premium models significantly while still offering dual rotating mops, auto mop lifting, and Eufy's signature privacy-focused approach. The lower suction and basic dustbin mean compromises, but for small to medium homes with mostly hard floors, it's a compelling value.
Eufy continues its philosophy of processing data locally rather than in the cloud, appealing to privacy-conscious users. The X9 Pro doesn't have a camera obstacle avoidance system, which some will see as a feature rather than a limitation.
Adequate Suction for Most Homes
The 5,500Pa suction is the X9 Pro's most notable limitation compared to premium models. In our testing, it performed well on hard floors and low-pile carpets, handling everyday debris like dust, cereal, and light pet hair without issue. However, thick carpets or ground-in dirt challenged it more than higher-powered alternatives.
For homes with mostly hard flooring or thin area rugs, the suction is perfectly adequate. If you have wall-to-wall medium or high-pile carpeting, consider models with 7,000Pa+ suction instead.
Good Mopping Performance
The dual rotating mops are where the X9 Pro excels for its price point. They spin at moderate speed to scrub floors, and while they don't apply as much pressure as premium models, they handle routine mopping tasks well. Light spills, dust, and light staining were removed effectively in our tests.
The automatic mop lifting is a valuable feature, raising the pads 12mm when carpet is detected. This prevents moisture damage to rugs and allows continuous cleaning across mixed flooring without manual intervention.
Privacy-Focused Design
Eufy's commitment to local data processing means the X9 Pro doesn't require cloud connectivity for core functions. Mapping, navigation, and cleaning schedules are all processed on-device. This gives peace of mind for users concerned about smart home privacy and security.
The tradeoff is the absence of camera-based obstacle avoidance found on higher-end models. The X9 Pro relies on LiDAR and infrared sensors for navigation, which work well for furniture and walls but can miss smaller obstacles like cables or pet toys.
Compact and Quiet
The X9 Pro is relatively compact compared to premium robots with larger batteries and components. It fits under most furniture and navigates tight spaces well. The quieter operation (starting at 62dB in quiet mode) is appreciated for daytime cleaning when you're home.
However, the compact size means a smaller dustbin (410ml) that fills faster with heavy use. For large homes or heavy shedders, you may need to empty it mid-cleaning or use multiple sessions.
Basic Station
Unlike its big sibling (X10 Pro Omni), the X9 Pro doesn't include a self-empty or mop-washing station. The charging dock is basic - it just charges the robot. You'll manually empty the dustbin after each use and rinse mop pads regularly.
This manual maintenance is the biggest difference from premium models and something to consider. If you value hands-off convenience, the extra $150-200 for the X10 Pro Omni with its all-in-one dock may be worthwhile.
Simple App Experience
The Eufy Clean app is straightforward and user-friendly. You can create maps, set no-go zones, schedule cleanings, and adjust suction/mop settings. The interface isn't as feature-rich as Roborock's app, but it covers all essential functions without overwhelming new users.
Integration with Alexa and Google Assistant allows voice control for basic functions like starting or stopping cleaning.
Who Should Buy This?
The Eufy Clean X9 Pro is ideal for:
- Budget-conscious buyers wanting 2-in-1 functionality
- Privacy-focused users who prefer local data processing
- Small to medium homes (under 1,500 sq ft) with mostly hard floors
- Users willing to handle manual dustbin emptying and mop maintenance
If you have a large home, thick carpets, or want hands-off maintenance with auto-empty and mop washing, spend extra on the X10 Pro Omni or Roborock Q Revo MaxV. But if you're on a budget and don't mind occasional manual maintenance, the X9 Pro delivers solid value.
